Gijon´s 2nd International Contest of Early Music selects Don Gil de las Calzas Verdes, Barrock'n´ roll, Ensemble Les Timbres and Ensemble Seconda Prattica for semi-final round

Four musical ensembles from Argentina, Italy, France and Spain have been chosen to compete in Semi-final and Final rounds of the 2nd International Contest of Early Music in Gijón (Spain)

This Contest takes placewithin the framework of the XVIthFestival of Early Music of Gijón, (AarónZapico, Dir.) and its Semi-final and Final rounds, July 7 and 8, are included into the Festival´s program.

The Argentinian group Don Gil de las Calzas Verdes, togetherwith the Spanish Barrock´n´ roll,the French team Ensemble les Timbresand the Italians Ensemble SecondaPrattica have been selected to perform in this second edition of theContest, whose theme includes instrumental, vocal or mixed chamber musicbetween early baroque and early classical, that is from 1.600 to 1.800 aprox.The wide range of creative proposals of those four collectives includesexperienced performers and advanced music students, so to promise a rich musical repertoire.

Their skills and performancewill be recognized with two awards: A GrandJury Prize and an Audience Special Prize,being also the former winners invited to perform at the 2014 edition of the Pirineus Early Music Festival. Members ofthe Jury include a number of experts in the field of Early Music such as Emilio Moreno (President), Javier Estrella, Josep MaríaDutrén, Javier Marín and Pablo J. Vayón(members)

Inthe 2012 edition of the Contest both prizes went to the French ensemble ConsortBroullamini.
